The Agricultural Machinery Open Air Museum (Skansen)

TO RESCUE FROM OBLIVION AND DESTRUCTION

The owner of the Draminski company says:

Nearby my company, DRAMINSKI-Electronics in Agriculture from Olsztyn
   www.draminski.com
which manufactures electronic devices for farmers, breeders and vets, I have set up The Agricultural Machinery Skansen Museum. The museum holds many machines, devices and tools used in agriculture, farming, flour-milling and smithing i.e. everything that was used in the country many or even a hundred years ago.

I have done it following my heart and out of great respect for farmers' toil but also because my whole family comes from the country: my grandparents, parents, aunts, uncles, and siblings. For many years, I myself, although brought up in the city, used to spent holidays in the country, tending flock, removing dung from the piggery, sheafing at harvest time, and riding horse rake. Thus, I saw how hard farmers worked. Even now they have it difficult. I have done it also because this machinery, equipment and tools, being the work of several generations now bygone, unnoticeably disappear, rot, rust, are often burned or scrapped.

Warmia Harvest in the Naterki Museum
This is a harvest show that uses old, even a hundred-year-old machinery. Threshing crop with a threshing machine produced by Lanz, with a name written on the side: Paul Mischke Allenstein who was an agricultural machinery distributor in prewar Olsztyn, is of biggest interest to the visitors. Usually, the main problem before the show is to get mowed crop with straight straw. Nowadays, it is difficult to get it as the combined harvester era has come.

Straw cutters
Straw cutter- a must for every farm. This straw cutter has a name written: Poland Bracia Szapiro (Poland-Szapiro Brothers). It comes from Leszek Czerwiński from Krasnoborki, a village seated on the beautiful Biebrza river. Czerwiński’s son-in-law, Daniel Konstantynowicz, is the manager of the Dramiński company. It is thanks to Mr. Daniel that this machine found its place in the Agricultural Machinery Skansen Museum in Naterki.

Interesting facts
Interesting facts. The photograph shows an authentic, enamelled road sign which used to stand on the exit of an old road from Olsztyn in the direction of Biskupiec Reszelski. The words on the road sign are: Biskupiec 41km through Barczewo 17 km. Visitors often ask: "How could this road sign have remained in such good condition till today?"
